BA was thrilled to collaborate once again with a valued client, and embarked on a comprehensive gut renovation of a historic residence nestled in the heart of downtown Frederick. The project involved meticulous removal of all non-essential interior components, including walls, doors, floors, stairs, and finishes, revealing the historic shell as a blank canvas for a contemporary reimagining.

Navigating the intricate Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) approval process proved instrumental in achieving the desired outcome. Securing permission to expand the existing grand staircase and create access to the rear of the house played a pivotal role in the project’s success. This expansion not only enhanced the home’s functionality but also allowed for a more seamless flow between the interior and exterior spaces.
