Puerto Rico Distillery Receives Final Site Plan Approval

The Puerto Rico Distillery (PRD) project in Brunswick, Maryland, recently received final site plan approval from the Frederick County Planning Commission. This approval paves the way for PRD to begin the renovation and occupancy of the building, transforming it into their new distillery.

The new facility will significantly boost PRD’s production, warehousing, and distribution capabilities. Additionally, the property will accommodate a second tenant: a local non-profit organization will utilize space for their offices and storage.

Bates Architects LLC has been instrumental in the project, developing the design and plans for the shell renovation, securing final site plan approval, and now progressing to the interior fit-up. We anticipate enjoying PRD’s Pitorro, or Sugarcane Moonshine Rum, in early 2026.
