Bio:

Jessica Bowers is a recent master’s graduate of the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. After serving for two previous internships with the firm, she is now the newest member of Bates Architects. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering from Oregon State University in 2019 before going on to work as part of the Space Nuclear Propulsion Team at the NASA Glenn Research Center developing tools to further deep space exploration. Having pivoted to architectural design she now hopes to contribute to improving the human condition here on earth. Her interests are in the adaptive reuse of existing structures and the creation of more accessible housing to promote healthier and more sustainable lives for all. She has made her home in Thurmont, Maryland, and is incredibly excited to be part of the talented group at Bates, working on projects for the benefit of the whole community.
